Shalom over Emet

The Talmud teaches us that HaShem's seal is emet, Truth, and that His name is shalom, Peace. His name is certainly closer to His essence that His seal. That means that although Emet is important, one must be prepared to compromise and not antagonize for the sake of peace.

My decision is that I will refrain from posting overt criticisms of Christianity. I will post about Torah and if that contradicts a Christian belief, so be it. I invite any discussion as long as it remains civil. I will continue to comment and argue at Messianic "Jewish" sites, although more calmly. No more name-calling, although my opinions remain unchanged.

I will take a cue from the rabbis who said: "Be a disciple of Aaron; Love peace and pursue peace, love the creations [man] and draw them close to the Torah."

May we all grow strong in the Torah.

In answer to your question at my site:
bar,
I may not consider Mormons to be Christians but they certainly have the right to believe whatever they wish.( I actually preferred Romney as my candidate!)
I do not feel that I showered you with anger!! I am always upset whenever I feel another person is not being shown civility and are not allowed free soul liberty.
I do know that Messianic Jews in Israel are indeed persecuted. It bothers me that a country such as Israel does not allow them to worship freely but are often left without homes and lose jobs over this.
I was never angry at you, Bar. I do feel you purposely chose wording and graphics to anger Christians, which I find a bit childish, but it is your blog and you are a child!!!
A very bright, intelligent child who has taught me much!!! Some of the other commenters where way over the top, even mentioning 'KILLING missionaries'. That should anger any freedom loving person!!!!

And I'm sorry if I angered you jungle mom. I do feel missionaries have no place in Israel but then again, we have a left wing, suicidal gov't in place for the time being.

About missiories being fired from work, and not having a place to live, I must say I lived there and that's purely your speculation.

Shalom and emet do not need to be mutually exclusive. One will bring the other. Keep bringing it.

1 Thus says the LORD:
“ Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
3 Do not let the son of the foreigner
Who has joined himself to the LORD
Speak, saying,
“ The LORD has utterly separated me from His people”;
Nor let the eunuch say,
“ Here I am, a dry tree.”
4 For thus says the LORD:
“ To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths,
And choose what pleases Me,
And hold fast My covenant,
5 Even to them I will give in My house
And within My walls a place and a name
Better than that of sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
That shall not be cut off.
6 “ Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—
7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
8 The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,
“ Yet I will gather to him
Others besides those who are gathered to him.”
(Isaiah 56:1-8)

G-d bless you, BK! I look forward to your posts... you are so knowledgeable! Teach Torah to us all... the Word of our G-d shall stand for ever!

Shalom,
Deborah

Eitan,
It actually has been covered on the Israeli news a few times. I also have friends living there who have confirmed this to me. Not missionaries, just Messianic Jews.

Bring it, BK....whether here or at my blog. Either way, the truth of Torah will always prevail in any debate with any person, because the Torah will stand on its own.

I love your blog!

KL -- I believe that it is God who decides who has a place in Israel and not you. And praise be to God that He is of infinite wisdom and not finite thinking.

Thank you for yet another display of finite thinking instead of agreeing that God is of infinite wisdom. By the way, for all you know my ancestors are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

No Frank unless your a Jew you have no ties to the Avot, please for your own sake stop trying to pretend you have any Torah you just come off as a fool, its not personel its just as me, and BK, have tried seemingly without success to explain to you, you dont have a Jewish soul or Torah Shebaal Peh, so you lack even the potential to understand the Torah.

Papa Frank said...

I know God who gave the Torah and who gives meaning to the Torah. All understanding comes from Him and not from being a Jew as you would have people believe. God created me in His image and that is where I derive my worth and my ability to understand and discern. Thanks for playing though -- try again hater.
