Remember Amalek!

As the Jewish world was plunged into sorrow at the brutal slaying of 8 young boys, ages 15-26, in the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva in the midst of Torah study, Arabs in Gaza waved flags, cheered, danced and gave out sweets in mosques. There is no moderation, no compromise, no compassion- those who cheer the murder of teenagers are pure evil and evil must be eradicated.

Just look at this picture. This is not a person but a barbaric bloodthirsty animal, rejoicing over the slaughter of boys, teenagers, cut down in a house of G-d. These cruel animals are not interested in peace or in negotiation but in the utter annhilation of the Jewish people. Smiling, flag waving- this is a people that worships death. Those that worship death and those that treasure life, the Living Nation, cannot coexist.

There can be no peace with evil. It is Rosh Chodesh Adar, the month in which we read the maftir of Zachor. "Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt; how he met you by the way, and smote the hindmost of you, all that were enfeebled in your rear, when you were faint and weary; and he feared not G-d. Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your G-d has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shalt not forget." Evil cannot be tolerated or compromised with. It can only be wiped out. When HaShem finally commanded the king Shaul to wipe out Amalek, he had mercy on them and allowed Agag the king to remain alive. During the time that Shaul allowed him to live, his wife conceived a son who was the ancestor of the wicked Haman who plotted to wipe out the Jewish people. On this the Rabbis commented: "He who has mercy on the cruel will ultimately be cruel to the merciful".

Remember the deeds of Amalek and wipe them out from under heaven!

The names of the eight students murdered yesterday in Mercaz HaRav are:

Doron Mehereta, 26, of Ashdod
Ro'i Rote, 18, of Elkanah in Samaria (Shomron)
Yonadav Haim Hirschfeld, 19, of Kokhav HaShachar (Shomron)
Yochai Lipshitz, 18, of the Old City of Jerusalem
Yonatan Yitzchak Eldar, 16, of Shilo (Shomron)
Neriah Cohen, 15, of Jerusalem
Segev Pniel Avichayil, 15, of N'vei Daniel in Gush Etzion
Avraham David Moses, 16, of Efrat, Gush Etzion

May their memories be a blessing and may HaShem avenge their holy blood speedily in our days.

Letter to HaShem

May the Rock of Israel have mercy on the souls of those murdered al Kiddush HaShem at the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva and avenge their blood, speedily in our days.

HaShem,

Rock of Israel, You swore to our Father Avraham long ago that You would bless His descendants and make of them a great nation. You gave to him and his descendants after him the entire land of Israel and swore by Your great and holy Name that they would inherit the gates of their enemies. Abir Yaakov, You redeemed us in Your infinite mercy from Egypt and drowned our oppressors in the sea. You wrought great signs and wonders in Egypt and took us out of slavery with a mighty hand and an outsretched arm. You planted us in You Inheritance and there we lived according to Your Torah. Av HaRachamim, when we sinned and worshipped foreign gods, You sent the wicked ones to scatter and punish us and we were dispersed to the four corners of the earth, our Temple burnt and our homeland lost. And yet, amid this, Your Shechina left into exile with us. In all our suffering, You have been there with us. You were burnt at the stake and murdered in pogroms, You were oppressed and suffocated in gas chambers, along with Your precious children, seed of Your beloved. "But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art Mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isaiah 43:1-2) We were taunted, humiliated, disgraced, massacred and slaughtered, all for Your holy name. HaShem, we have not forgotten You, please do not forget us.

In Your eternal kindness, following the evil slaughter of millions of Jews by the cruel and barbaric foes in the lands of Europe, You returned us to our land and reestablished our sovereingty. HaShem, once again old men and women sat in the streets of Jerusalem, Yerushalayim habenuya, and the deserts bloomed once more. In six heroic days, Your children liberated their ancient homeland and we ran to the site of Your desolate Temple. You have been so kind and gracious to us, that the previous generation and our generation have merited to witness the first flowering of the Redemption.

And yet, G-d of Avraham, Yitzhak and Yaakov, "Thine enemies are in an uproar; and they that hate Thee have lifted up the head. They hold crafty converse against Thy people, and take counsel against Thy treasured ones. They have said: 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.'" (Psalm 83:3-5). Your enemies, foes of Your people, children of the wild ass of a man, oppress Your sons and threaten the Inheritance that You have given them. HaShem, they spill our blood like water and rejoice about it. The nation of Israel lives in fear as the evildoers kill and maim at will, and good men are hard to find. In these Chavlei HaMoshiach, the Birthpangs of the Moshiach, sorrow has increased, pain is abundant, the Torah is mocked and Your nation faces extermination. Rock of Israel, just as You have done to Pharaoh, do to them.

It is Rosh Chodesh of the month of Adar in which You reversed the council of Haman HaRashah and the day that was meant for sorrow and mourning became a day of salvation and rejoicing. HaShem, renew our days and turn our tears into laughter. Let us merit the fulfillment of the prophecy "He will swallow up death for ever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of His people will He take away from off all the earth; for the LORD hath spoken it." (Isaiah 25:8) If not for our own sake, HaShem, if our sins be too great, the for the sake of Your great and glorious name which Your enemies blaspheme and curse, redeem us. Let not the nations ask mockingly: "where is their G-d?". Comfort the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and let them not know suffering any longer. Send us Moshiach Tzidekeinu to redeem us, to ingather our exiles, crush our enemies, bring us back to Your holy Torah, rebuild the Beit HaMikdash and reestablish the Kingdom of David. Fulfill in us the verse: "The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honour." (Esther 8:16) and may we see the glorious Geulah speedily in our days, amen.

With love of the Land, Nation and Torah of Israel,

Your Servant

The One-State Final Solution- Part I

One of the proposals of the far Left to solve the Jewish-Arab conflict is a One-State Solution. According to this plan, Israel would be replaced by a binational state of Jews and Arabs, living in equality and harmony. In the Leftist utopia, Arabs and Jews would co-exist with equal rights and priveleges in the state of Israstine or Pali-el. The reality, however, is much more frightening. This One-State Solution is nothing but a herald of the Final Solution. Here's why:

1) The "Rwanda" Solution:

The dream of Jews and Arabs living together in perfect harmony is just that- a dream. Binational states have never succeeded without the occassional genocide or repression. In Rwanda, two seemingly similar tribes (to foreigners) massacred each other in a span of days, leaving 800 000- 1 500 000 people dead. If two groups who speak the same language, practice the same faith and are more or less similar, cannot manage to live together peacefully without slaughtering each other, we can derive a kal va'chomer that it would be impossible to have a binational state of groups as different as Arabs and Jews, who follow different faiths, speak different languages, different cultures, different histories and whose mindsets are light-years apart. Even if we look at cases where the groups differ in only one aspect, the pickings are slim. Belgium is composed of 58% Dutch-speaking Flemish and 32% French-speaking Walloons. Tensions between the two communities is very high and a significant portion of the population supports partition. In Canada, a binational state of sorts, with French Quebec a province in English Canada, there is the constant spectre of separation. While the conflict is today mostly peaceful, it has at times erupted violently. If Canadians, who are known for their calm nature, can resort to war, why should it be expected that the Arabs, whose history has shown them to have no such reservations, remain pacifistic? Such a proposal can only lead to prolonged war and eventual genocide between the Arabs and Jews. There is no guarantee that, upon allowing millions of Arab refugess into the newly created state, that they will not celebrate their state by murdering every single Jew that they can get their hands on, as was the case in the pogroms of 1920-21 and 1929.

2) Islam dominates and is not dominated:

The area that is today thought of as the heartland of the Islamic world was once Christian lands and many countries had large and prosperous populations of Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians and Hindus. Just to illustrate the amazing level of Islamic tolerance, there are no Jews in any Islamic countries with the exception of a few thousand living in difficult conditions in Morocco, Iran and Turkey. This is in keeping with the Islamic doctrine of dhimmitude where non-Muslims are relegated to second-class status, according to the Qur'an's command that non-Muslims "feel themselves subdued". Non-Muslims face harsh discrimination and this is still apparent even in "modern" Islamic countries. Egyptian Copts have difficulties constructing new churches and are often attacked by Islamic fundamentalists. Churches in Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria, etc. are often burnt down. Assyrian Christians in Iraq have been forced out because of Islamic renewal due to the US-led invasion. In traditional Islamic jurisprudence, Jews fall under the category of dhimmi and in the binational state, Islamic scholars will certainly demand that they comply with the debasing laws of dhimmitude. It is doubtful that the government of this new state will be secular as secularist movements have all failed in the Islamic world, and where they have succeeded, they have needed to repress Islam militarily. Islam is not meant to be equal to other faiths but to dominate and rule over them. In that vein, synagogues will need to be lower than mosques, will not be able to renovated and Jews will be subject to many difficulties. The creation of a binatinal state would mean Jews willingly accepting to become second-class citizens under Islamic sharia law, something that can never be allowed to happen.

3) The Death of Zionism:

Zionism arose out of the Jews' natural desire for self-determination, a right granted to all other peoples. Woodrow Wilson's famous 14 points affirmed each nation's right to self-rule. This dream was realized with the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, a place where the Jewish people would no loner be oppressed by the gentiles but be masters of their own destiny. The creation of a binational state would signal the complete end of the Zionist dream and the renewal of the exile. Since the Arabs possess 22 states and the Jews one, it is ridiculous to demand that the Jews relinquish their singular state to create a binational country. Since the beginning of the exile in 70 CE, the Jews have hoped and prayer for a return to sovereingty, to build a new land, a Jewish state with a Jewish culture and character, in which to observe the mitzvot and become "a light unto the nations". Such national aspirations are impossible living as a minority under Arab rule.

Yesh Din!

The Other Front

"Please save me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau!" (Genesis 32:11) Whether he comes as Esau with Inquisitions and pogroms, or comes as our brother with handouts and Messianic 'seders', Esau soneh et Yaakov, Esau is still our enemy. This is the second front in our war.

With thanks to HKBH. May it merit Am Yisrael not to fall into the traps of the goyim!

No Value in Being Dead

One of the most tired liberal Jewish canards is "but we're better than that!". Oh how we love to trot out our moral superiority, how we value life, even enemy life, how we risk our soldiers to protect enemy civilians. Speaking to any Jewish leftist, one can hear peons to our higher standards, even as the number of dead Jews piles up. I have had enough!

2 Israeli soldiers paid the ultimate price in defense of the Land and People of Israel. Their souls are surely in the highest levels of Gan Eden along with all the other Jews who died al Kiddush HaShem. And yet, why did they have to die? There is no need for one Jewish soldier to endanger themselves by stepping into Gaza to fight. We have a powerful airforce- let us bomb Gaza into submission. Israel should turn Gaza into a parking lot if the rockets aren't stopped. Mercy has its place, but now is the time for harsh and cruel revenge.

I hear the protest- "we're better than them! We don't do that!" Blah, blah, blah, blah. Jews, listen now and listen well: There is no moral value in being dead. It doesn't matter how much better we are than the Arabs, how much more moral, how superiour we are if we are dead. Israeli soldiers being killed in house-to-house combat is nothing to be proud of. Only a corrupt moral system places the life on an enemy civilian over your own soldier. The Torah says ve'chai bahem - and you shall live by them (Lev. 18:15) We should live by them, and not die by them. Bomb Gaza, destroy Hamas, crush enemy oppostion and expel our foes, but do not for one second place a Jewish soldier in uneccessary harm. When you're at the funeral of a young soldier (G-d forbid), moral superiourity means little.

Perverted Values

Amidst the increasing attacks on Israel, US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, has called for Israel to show restraint in dealing with Qassam rockets, suicide bombings and deadly terrorism. Israel's legendary restraint has led some to call the IDF the most moral army in the world. I beg to differ. Israel's restraint is an example of perverted values, of fighting according to Western standards of "turn the other cheek" and not Jewish morals.

"When you go forth in battle to your enemies" (Deut. 20:1)... What is meant by against your enemies? G-d said, 'Confront them as enemies. Just as they show you no mercy, so you should show them no mercy" (Tanchuma, Shotim 15). When Israel provides the Arabs with electricity, water, goods, etc., it is violating the command of the Midrash. The Arabs who fight against us are our enemies and not our friends. "You are going to war against your enemies and not your brethren. It is not Judah against Simeon or Simeon against Judah such that if you fall captive they will have mercy on you... It is against your enemies that your are waging war. If you fall into their hand, they will show you no mercy." (Sifri, Shoftim 192) The time for mercy is long over. It is time to put all pity and consideration aside and repay those murderous thugs "seven-fold", and eye for an eye.

Some may protest that such collective punishment is immoral and yet the Torah differs on this. We learn from Sotah 11a that Job was punished for not speaking out against Pharaoh's decree. Silence means assent. "Whoever is capable of protesting and does not do so will be punished" (Avodah Zara 18a). All Arabs in Gaza have the right to prevent their homes from being used as a launch-pad for terror, to leave or to suffer the consequences. In the same vein, the silence and impotence of Israel's leaders makes them collaborators in the death of Roni Yechiyeh HY"D and all those who have been slain al kiddush HaShem in Sderot and all over Israel.

After the massacre of Shechem, Ya'akov rebuked Shimon and Levi. To this, they answered "Shall our sister be treated like a harlot?" (Gen. 34:31), Ya'akov accepted their argument with silence, recognizing the necessity of their deeds. They performed a great mitzvah and for this reason the city of Shechem became Shimon's tribal banner. Today we must ask, "shall our brothers be treated as disposible?", will Jewish blood be considered cheap, expendable, worthless? Will the perpetrators of thiese heinous acts be brought to justice?

When the brothers answered Ya'akov, he remained silent. R. Yehuda bar Shimon (Bereshit Rabba 80:12) said: [They said] The water was muddy and we made it clear. 'Shall he treat her like a harlot?'. They treated us as though our lives had no value'. The medieval commentators justify the massacre of Shechem. Rambam (Hilchot Melachim 9:14) wrote: "A descendant of Noach who violates one of these seven [Noahide] laws shall be killed by the sword. Hence, all of the residents of Shechem incurred a death, beause Shechem stole and they saw and knew yet they did not put him on trial." Ramban on Gen. 34:13 differs from the Rambam: "Because the people of Shechem were evildoers whose blood they considered like water, Ya'akov's sons wished to smite them all with an avenging sword. They killed the king and all the people of his city, because they were his slaves and under his charge." The people of Gaza have allowed terrorists to rain missiles on Sderot, violating the prohibition against murder. There is no alternative besides sending the stern message that the Jewish people will not be trifled with.

" For He that avengeth blood hath remembered them; He hath not forgotten the cry of the humble."

Dayenu- No More!

Golda Meir once said that she could forgive the Arabs for killing our children, but never forgive them for making us kill their children. While this statement may play well with bleeding-heart liberals, it should be profoundly disturbing to every self-respecting Jew. Why should we be able to forgive the Arabs for the murder of fellow Jews? It seems that we, having been victims for so long, prefer to be losers than victors and would rather the world cry crocodile tears for murdered Jews than for them to condemn a strong Israel.

Within the past day or two, 60 Kassam rockets have rained down on Sderot and the surrounding areas. 15 people have been injured and Roni Yahya, 47, father of 4, was killed. He is just one of the many casualties of the incessant Arab terrorist rocket fire on Sderot, and last week a young child lost his leg when a Kassam hit him when he was on the way to a store. Thousands upon thousands of rockets have rained down on Sderot and the people there live in a constant state of war.

It should be apparent to anybody who has eyes to see and ears to hear, that Sderot is at a critical situation. No sovereign country can tolerate a constant attack on its citizens by an enemy entity. And still, the Israeli government sits quietly and refuses to punish the perpetrators of these heinous attacks. Why? Why are some Jews so uncomfortable with the idea of force, of asserting ourselves instead of acting like poor shlemiels who will take terrorist attacks lying down? Our leaders are cowardly dhimmis who cannot take a stand for Jewish rights. The only solution now, despite its unpleasantness, is for return the Arab favour 'seven-fold', an eye for an eye. No Arab terrorist leader should be safe and Gaza's electricity should be immiediately cut off. Israel should begin a harsh campaign of pulverizing any site used as a base for rocket attacks and a clear message should be sent that such attacks will not be tolerated.

Israeli soldiers Gilead Shalit, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, are still sitting in Hamas and Hizbullah captivity. An Israel governed by true Jewish values would never tolerate such an affront to its national pride and to the basic human rights of its soldiers. Close to 2 years after their capture, their whereabouts are still unknown. PM Olmert and his collaborators have their suffering on their hands, as well as all the Jewish blood spilled because they refuse to punish Arab terrorism.

Assertiveness and national pride are nothing to be ashamed of. We need not compromise and appease endlessly. Only a people mirred in self-doubt cannot proudly stand up for its own rights. Will we become the Jews of Silence once again? Israel must not be ashamed to unleash hell on the Arab terrorists and ensure that no more Jewish lives are lost. No more kaddish, no more yarzheits, no more teary obituaries. Like the great Rabbi Kahane said, I would prefer an Israel that is hated than an Auschwitz that the world loves. Let us take to heart G-d's promise to Joshua: "Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid neither be thou dismayed: For HaShem your G-d is with you wherever you go". Amen v'amen.

Shleimut HaAretz - Territorial Integrity

Here the words of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, one of the greatest Jewish leaders of the century, explain why Israel cannot surrender any land to the Arabs.

Look at the Scoreboard

Interiour Minister Sheetrit is planning to build a modern Arab city in the Galilee. (I would suggest to him that he first deal with our enemies cities in Gaza before building them new ones.) What exactly does an "Arab city" mean though? Are there "Jewish cities" in Israel? Let's take a look at the scorecard:

Jerusalem: 30% Arab

Haifa: 15-25% Arab

Tel-Aviv: 4.2% Arab

Arabs are equal citizens in Israel with the same political rights as Jews. Arabs can live anywhere they want in Israel without restrictions. Even illegal Arab construction in Jerusalem is rarely contested.

Shechem (Nablus): 0% Jewish
Shechem is the burial place of the Biblical patriarch Yosef. In the early days of Oslo, when Israel handed Kever Yosef over to the Arabs, it was desecrated by a fanatical mob. Now, Jews are forbidden from going to Kever Yosef to pray.

Bethlehem: 0% Jewish
Rachel Imeinu is buried in Bethlehem and King David's line originated there. It is currently judenrein and Kever Rachel is frequently harassed by Arabs. Jews who go to pray there are severely inconvenienced as reaching the kever requires heavy security, passing fences and walls, and hiring armed guards.

Hebron: 0.004%
There are about 400 Jews living in Hebron around Mearat HaMachpela, the tomb of the Patriarches. They live under siege in severe conditions with heavy army presence. Thousands of Jews are able to pray at the gravesites of our nation's founders only because of the perseverance of these handful of Jews.

No Jews live in any Arab-majority city. Entire swaths of the country are judenrein. A Jew could not walk into Ramallah or Nazareth without being stoned, beaten or lynched. 7 000 Jews were thrown out of Gaza at the behest of the Arabs and hundreds of thousands more are set to be expelled in Judea and Samaria (G-d forbid). What could possibly by gained with the creation of a new terrorist camp, an Arab city, which will certainly become a hotbed of anti-Israel activity and hatred, as have all other Arab cities?

Putting the Infidel in His Place

Islam is different from all other religions in that it is the only religion that has an established doctrine of warfare towards nonbelievers and that it believes in its eventual military domination of the world and the subjugation of non-Muslims. As the Qur'an commands, Muslims are to fight against Infidels until "they pay the jyziah tax out of hand and they feel themselves subdued"; the Infidel is not necessarily to be exterminated, but humuliated and humbled.

This is at the heart of the Muslims rejection of Israel. No proud Muslim, committed to the Islamic principle that "Islam dominates and is not dominated", can accept Infidels, especially the hated Jewish sons of pigs and monkeys, ruling over a land once occupied by Islam. When Muslims see strong Jewish soldiers resisting the armies of Allah, their blood boils at rage at this provocation. In the same way, Muslims in Western countries seem to be attacking Infidel cultural symbols in order to establish Islamic superiority. Consider the desire to erect a 70 000 seat mosque in London at the site of the Olympic Village, for the sole purpose of sending the message that Islam is above the Infidel.

In the medieval English city of Oxford, Muslims are agitating to broadcast the muezzin's call to prayer on loud speakers. This is nothing but a provocation to impose Islamic dominance on a Christian-cultured community. The towering minarets and the muezzin's loud wail of Allahu Ackbar serve to remind the Infidel that they exist on Islamic turf. This same confrontational tactic is being repeated all over Europe, like in Spain where Muslims are demanding the use of an ancient church which was once a mosque, or in France where one can see the slitting of the throats of sheep in honour of Eid-al-Fitr. The reason for this has little to do with tolerance or respect for diversity but to strike fear in the hearts of the Infidel, to terrorize them psychologically that they should be aware that Islam is the law of the land.

The corrupt dhimmis of the Israeli government have announced plans for a new Arab city in the Galilee, an area with a significant Arab population. While construction of Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria has been frozen and Jews have forcibly been evicted from Gaza and more expulsions are planned, illegal Arab construction in Jerusalem goes unabated. The Dome of the Rock and the Mosque of Umar sit triumphantly on the ruins of the Holy Temple (and on the site of the Third Temple, may it be rebuilt speedily in our days, amen), while Jews are forbidden from "offensive" gestures such as prayer. The Jordanian government plans to build a new minaret on the Temple Mount, even though a similar call to build a synagogue at Judaism's holiest site has been rejected. Jewish sites that have been transfered to Arab control have been desecrated since they belong to jahiliyya, the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. Archaeological finds on the Temple Mount have been systematically destroyed by the Islamic wakf, and Kever Yosef, Joseph's Tomb, was burnt by a fanatical mob in the early days of the Oslo disaster, and sits despoiled. A week ago, when a group of Breslover chassidim decided to go to this holy site to pray, they were scene as a threat by the IDF, although evidentally Arab rockets raining down on Sderot do not classify as such.

Islam's goal is to humiliate, debade and disgrace non-Muslims in an attempt to achieve dominance. This dominance can be achieved militarily, as Muslims attempt to do in Israel or against Western forces in Iraq or Afghanistan, or culturally by erecting minarets to tower over Infidel cities. If the West hopes the win this latest conflict in the long history of jihad and Islamic aggression, it must vehemently oppose Islamic encroachment and expansion, and Islam's powerful campaign of forcing the Infidels to compromise. Israel's government must declare the entire Land ready for Jewish settlement, allow Jewish prayer on our holiest site and guarantee Jewish security and sovereignty over every inch of the Holy Land. Any signs of Islamic dominance or anything that migh suggest Islamic superiority or supremacism must be banned. Minarets with intrusive calls to prayer cannot be allowed in Western countries and neither should Muslims be permitted to fragrantly violate the laws of the Infidel countries in which they reside. If they have a problem with this, there are always other like-minded countries where they could reside.

How Goodly Are Your Tents, O Jacob?

An outsider to Judaism could be forgiven in thinking that the Synagogue plays that same role in Judaism as the Church plays in Christianity. Nothing could be further from the truth. The central address of the Jewish nation is not in the synagogue or in the batei midrash, but in the home. One can be a perfectly good Jew without visiting the synagogue except on occassion, but one's Judaism would be severely lacking unless they keep a Jewish home- a home that observes the laws of kashrut, shabbat and is a center of kindness, hospitality and Torah study.

Throughout the ages, it has been the Jewish home and family that gave our people strength to endure the harsh persecutions. While the goyyim got drunk and beat their wives, Jewish husbands treated theirs with respect as mandated by halakhah. Instead of spending their nights getting drunk and taverns, Jews drank at smachot, or when making Kiddush Friday nights. The Jewish home was known to be a place of holiness, of G-dliness, and of kindness. When the Jews were in the Desert, the wicked king Balak hired the sorcerer Bilaam to curse Israel. Climbing to the summit of a hill overlooking the Jewish encampment, Bilaam found himself unable to curse the Holy Nation. He exclaimed in praise: "How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwellings, O Israel!" (Num. 24:5). Bilaam saw that the doors of the homes never faced the entrances of their neighbours, to prevent invasions of privacy. Since our wandering at Sinai, the Jewish family unity, the basic unit of our people, has been a source of strength and a place to innoculate core Jewish values such as respect, monotheism, ethics and morality.

Needless to say, the recent ruling by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz allowing homosexuals to adopt children serves only to erode the strength and stability of the Jewish family. This first step towards recognizing same-sex marriage is completely contradictory to the Jewish family which emphasized traditional values, Jewish learning, Torah, the bond between parent and child. Like in other Western countries (though thank G-d not yet as widespread), non-traditional relationships have become the norm in many cases, with the numbers of divorces skyrocketing, and incrases levels of teenage pregnancies, single-parents and other non-Jewish lifestyles.

Israel cannot survive long if it allows the Jewish family to weaken and disappear. The Jewish homes is where family life revolves, meeting on holidays where they share Jewish historical experiences and seeing Torah practically applied. The Jewish family is an organic unit, a mutually created and momentous work of art, a microcosm of the Holy Temple and a vessel for G-d's Divine Presence. In the Jewish family, husband and wife are two halves of one persona, the expression of one, unified will. The Torah directs the family with strong morals and values. Its invaluable guidance nurtures a happy, serene and unified family. A strong Jewish upbringing in a Torah-home is essential for a healthy Jewish society. As we see, Israel suffers from an existensial crisis in which it cannot justify its own claims to the land and therefore cannot adequately protect itself. The only rectification for this is the return to a strong Jewish home infused with Jewish values to imbude children with moral integrity.

A Safer Redemption

Oh, how I wish that I could leave the galut behind and make aliyah! My heart is in the east and I am at the edge of the west.

"I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Moshiach and even though he may tarry, I will await his coming every day." Learn those words. Live by them.

May it be Your will, HaShem, my G-d and the G-d of my forefathers, that the Holy Temple be rebuilt speedily in our days, and there we may serve You with awe as of eternity and the days of old, and the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to You as of eternity and the days of old." Amen.

Justifying Your Existence

There is a high-stakes war going on in Israel since its inception, and its not bewteen Israel and the Arabs. No, the far more dangerous struggle is a cultural one, the struggle between Judaism, Torah and tradition vs. Hellenism, moral relativity and liberalism. While the majority of Israelis are moderate and traditional, this war is being pushed by a small minority of secular leftist extremists in a hope of banishing Judaism from Israeli life.

In the form of bans on Jewish prayer in secular schools, gay pride parades down the streets of the Holy City or state-funding of secular burials, a very vocal minority of people would like nothing more than the transformation of Israel into a secular multicultural paradise.

Imagine: Bar cruising (gay bar crusing, just to make matters worse) on erev Shabbat, followed by a nice treif meal by the beach (already a common scene in Tel-Aviv). A state where Judaism is a matter of personal feeling, a quaint antiquated relict from the shtetl, where Jews and Arabs marry and have children, symbolizing the new tolerance of this secularist utopia. A non-denomiinational state where Jews and Arabs have complete cultural equality, where the anthem is changed to be more inclusive, where trains run on shabbat and school hours meant for Jewish education are set aside to teach students about "Nakba" Day. Beautiful? A perfect society of tolerance and inclusiveness? No, it is the death of the Jewish state.

Hedonism and materialism are hardly values that inspire courage and resolve. Being innoculated with post-Zionist ideas, with Jewish self-sacrifice and idealism mocked, is it any wonder that many on the Left dodge the draft? And when times get tough in the secular California on the Mediterranean, why should any Israeli prefer to live there than over the real California, which is probably much safer? There are already close to a million Israelis who have made yeridah to move to the Promised Land, the United States. Without classic Jewish morals and values, the state will lose all meaning, becoming a morally and culturally relative wasteland. A society that stands for anything stands for nothing, and will fall before anything. Faced with a fanatical foe motivated by absolute zeal in his religion and a divine mandate to slaughter the infidels, the secular Jew has nothing to reassure him. With such an enemy there can be no talk of pragmatic solutions, compromise or moderation but the poor shlemiel cannot begin to comprehend the mind of one who believes in the justness of his own cause and who is prepared to fight for it. The secular Jew believes that, just as he is prepared to sacrifice anything on the altar of acceptance and "peace", his enemies share the same desire.

In 1903, Binyamin Herzl was offered a Jewish state in Uganda, Africa. When the proposal was brought forward at the sixth Zionist Congress, fierce oppostion broke our and the Russian delegation stormed out in protest. Over 100 years later, there are some on the far left who wonder if the right choice was made. Why not a Jewish state in Uganda, or in New York? Is a tiny piece of land in the Middle-East worth decades of fighting and thousands of deaths, orphans and widows? To a Jew without the Torah, while few would agree with this, there are few secular arguments to justify a Jewish state in Israel as opposed to on any other piece of land around the globe. One may claim that the Jews were the original inhabitants, but the Native Americans aren't regaining any land with that argument. Simply put, without a strong connection to Jewish history and Judaism, there is no justification for 6 million Jews inserting themselves under the fingernails of 100 million Arabs and over a billion Muslims. Ahmadinejad's query of 'why don't you establish a state in Germany?' is left hanging. Israel currently fears the Jewish answer, rendering it incapable of justifying its existence. As a result, it cannot protect itself. Not from the Kassam and not from a nuclear Iran. Today, we see Israel's post-Zionist self-hating leaders prepared to uproot thousands of Jews, destroy Jewish settlements, and to hand over the Jewish biblical homeland, in the hopes of gaining Western and Arab recognition. Olmert and his cronies are barely convinced in the Jewish claim to the land and feel that the Arabs certainly deserve it more. Instead of fighting like proud Jews in the manner of king David or the Maccabees, the elite self-loathing members of the government force the IDF to fight with its hands tied and endanger Jewish life in a misguided attempt to minimize "innocent" Arab casualties. Without the Torah, Israel is stuck in an existensial rut where it cannot expel the Arabs whom it believes to have legitimate claims to the land.

The State of Israel was not created so that we could eat ham by the beach or go clubing on Friday night. It was not created so that we could break the Torah in freedom or that we should make peace with the Arabs at the price of tearing Jews out of their homes. It was not meant to be a multicultural state with cultural equality for Jews and Arabs, or to be a secular state of all its citizens. G-d, in His infinite mercy, returned us to our land in order that we should fulfill our Jewish destiny, to be a light unto the nations and to perfect the world in the kingdom of the Almighty. Otherwise, the state of Israel becomes meaningless. Little do the secular elites know that whenever they fight for the right of homosexuals to parade their lust in the city that once housed the Holy Temple (and will soon house the rebuilt Third Temple, amen), they strengthen our enemies by giving them liscence to claim that the Jews no longer live by the very text which is the deed to our land. We must realize that our deed comes not from the UN, Lord Balfour, George W. Bush or anyone else, but from Avrahm, Yitzhak and Yaakov, Moshe, Aharon, David and Shlomo. And to merit their land bequeathed to their descendants, we must act like them.

Revenge

I want revenge. Not forgiveness, healing, reconciliation or bridge-building, but revenge, harsh, powerful, uncompromising. One Jew has been savagely murdered and two shot, for the simple crime that they were Jewish, by members of the "moderate" Fatah terrorist organization. For this terrible attack, there must be no tolerance, no turning the other cheek and no mercy, but rather revenge, terrible and sweet.

O earth, do not conceal their blood! How long with this continue, Israel's corrupt judenrat giving up Jewish land to appease the murderers, with the only result being death and destruction? How can any Jew hear of this and his blood not boil? The blood of this holy martyr, HaShem yinkom damo, is on the head of Ehud Olmert and his entire cabinet, along with the blood of those who have been killed in various attacks and rockets on Sderot. After the Holocaust, when Europe became one giant Jewish graveyard, we pledged 'Never Again'. Never again to Jewish weakness. Never again to going silently like sheep to the slaughter. And yet Ehud Olmert continues to call Abbas, the head of the murderous organization dedicated to the Final Solution to the Zionist Problem, a moderate! A man of peace who is prepared to end the violence against Israel in return for an Arab state. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Since 2005, Gaza has been judenrein, free from any alleged occupation or Israeli intereference. In the subsequent two and a half years, the Arabs of Gaza have not proven themselves ready for self-government but plunged themselves into a bloody civil war, with Hamas finally winning. When Israel disengaged Gaza, throwing out 10 000 Jewish settlers in the process, it left behind farm equipment and greenhouses. Showing the world yet again how the Arab never miss and opportunity to miss and opportunity, the vile savages desecrated the synagogues of the former settlement and burnt the greenhouses, destroying a chance to start a self-suficient economy. Now, the streets of Gaza are overflowing with sewage because the pipes have been used as rockets to launch at Sderot and gangs of Islamofascist thugs terrorize the population. Thriving Jewish communities were razed to appease these animals and in gratitude, the Arab murderers killed every Jew that they could get their hands on. Even as Israel released hundreds of Arab terrorists, kidnapped Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, remains in the hands of Hamas. The weapons that Israel gave to the Arabs as a sign of goodwill have found their way into the hands of Jew-murdering pigs; Fatah policemen were guilty in the death of two Jewish hikers in Judea and Samaria.

The time for talk is over. It is now time for revenge. Israel says that it has disengaged from Gaza so let it make good on its claim. Let Israel completely disconnect from Gaza, and seal tightly all the gates. Any transer of electricity, medical aid and information as well as any contact by Israeli officials must be banned. Any village which is used as a base for staging assaults on Jewish targets will be razed, after its population is expelled. No Hamas or Fatah official should be safe and bombardment of Gaza will not stop until the Arabs declare complete and unconditional surrender.

Liberals, in their perverted notions of righteousness, claim that this is immoral. Nonsense! Morality comes directly from HaShem and is derived from the Torah. The highest moral law is that of self-preservation and to that end, Israel must hesitate one iota. Let everyone take to heart the teaching of our Sages contained in Midrash Tanchuma: Just as they show you no mercy, so you should not show them mercy. There have been enough dead Jews, enough bereaved mothers and enough orphaned children in the misguided quest to make "peace" with the Arabs and to relinquish Jewish land. The Arabs have had ample time to show their unwillingness to stop murdering and have killed, looted, bombed and attacked every chance they have got.

By failing to take revenge and to stand up for ourselves, we are guilty of the worst sort of chillul HaShem. "And I scattered them among the nations and they were dispersed through the countries; according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. And when they came into the nations whither they came, they profaned My Holy Name when they [the nations] said concerning them: These are the people of the Lord and are gone forth from His land! And I had pity for My Holy Name which the House of Israel had profaned among the nations into which they came. Therefore say unto the House of Israel: Thus said the Lord, G-d. I do not do this for your sake, O House Of Israel, but for My Holy Name's sake which you have profaned among the nations into which you came. And I will sanctify My Great Name, which was profaned among the nations, which you profaned among them, and the nations shall know that I Am The Lord, said the Lord G-d, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries and bring you into your own land." (Ezekiel 36) Whenever a Jew is degraded or attacked by a non-Jew, this is a chillul HaShem. Whenever a Jewish settlement is bombarded or a Jew walking on the streets of Jerusalem is shot, this is a chillul HaShem. "And when they came into the nations whither they came, they profaned My Holy Name." Our defenselessness, weakness, our reliance on the wobbly reed of flesh and blood and our refusal to claim what is rightfully ours, is the essense of desecrating G-d's Name. "Israel's lowliness is a Chillul Hashem in that the nations say of them, "These are the Lord's people [and they are gone forth out of His Land] yet He is unable to save them." (Rashi on Ezekiel 39:7).

Eventually, we will wake up to the necessity of Jewish self-defense and assertion; the only question is how long and at what cost in Jewish blood? Jews, do not allow the death of our brothers to go unavenged! We have learnt from the Holocaust and from the thousands of years of exile that preceded it that if we do not stand up for ourselves, no one will.

"Sing aloud, O ye nations, of His people; for He doth avenge the blood of His servants, and doth render vengeance to His adversaries, and doth make expiation for the land of His people." (Deut. 32:43)

The New Ghetto

Watch this video and you'll understand the predicament of Israel and the people of Sderot.

There is an old expression that says that it is easier to take the Jews out of Egypt than to take Egypt out of the Jews. Similarly, the late great Rabbi Kahane HY"D said: "The Jew left Pinsk and Minsk and he returned to Minsk and to Pinsk." Even though the Jewish people left the shtetl a century or so ago, our leaders continue to act like ghetto-Jews and refuse to stand up for Jewish rights. In an age where the Jewish people possess one of the greatest armies in the modern world, it is still deemed "un-Jewish" in many quarters so fight back.

Living as a stranger in Christian Europe or under Muslim rule, the Jews were subjected to harsh and debasing circumstances. Starting in Venice in 1516 and spreading throughout Europe, the Jews were forced into cramped and confined living quarters, known as ghettos. Jews were extremely restricted in their choice of profession and often become money lenders, as immortalized in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. They could not leave the ghetto at night and whenever they did leave, the Jews had to wear special clothes to in order to identify themselves. In Afghanistan, Yemen or Algeria, for example, Jews had to walk barefoot, were segregated, wore distinctive clothing and lived in constant fear of massacres, rape or abduction. The Pact of Umar, the document that spelled out clearly the requirement of dhimmitude the debasement of non-Muslims, forbade Jews to ride on horses, to carry weapons or to repair or build new synagogues, among other things. In this atmospere of humilation, Jews learnt to keep their heads down, to avoid trouble and to accept any discrimination or oppression as "the will of the Almighty". It is from here that the prevalent image of a weak Jew begging or prostrating himself before his gentile overlords arose. It was necessary for the exile-Jews not to argue or protest, to keep his head or prevent a horde of Cossacs from burning down his village. This mode of existence was essential for the time period as the Jews had little choice in the matter of their rights.

Today, the Jews for the most part have left the exile and yet the exile has not left the Jews. We continue to worry about asserting our selves in fear of "what the goyyim will say". We don't realize that G-d has reinstated us as a free nation in our own land and has blessed us with a booming economy, material wealth and a mighty army. There are more people today living in Jerusalem than there ever were, even in the time of king David and Solomon! Our leaders, the PM of Israel, Ehud Olmert and his corrupt cronies, insist on surrendering Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and expelling tens of thousands of Jews to appease the United States and the murderous Arabs. There is no cost too great for "peace now". Peace at any price! Peace immediately! When a terrorist blows himself up on a Jerusalem bus or in a Tel-Aviv cafe, instead of destroying the terrorist infrastructue, Israel's government decides to put Israel behind a fence, as if a fence can stop missiles. Where we once fought with all of our might to be able to leave the ghetto, our leaders are now walking back into one of their own making. This bunker mentality pervades all aspects of Israeli life. Every Israeli is frisked tens of times each day by security guards whenever he walks into a mall, a store or any public building. When rockets fall on Sderot and entire families are forced to live in shelters, Olmert remains silent and explains that nothing can be done. He suggests building more shelters. Peres dismisses the hundreds of rockets as "kassam shamssams". Maybe we should rebuild the city underground? Who needs Sderot anyways- we parted with Gaza? If we release terrorist, the Arabs will stop killing us. If we give them weapons, the rockets and attacks will stop. If we surrender Jewish land, there will be peace. The Jew can never stand up for his own rights and everytime he does, the world condemns him for "responding disproportionately". The US or Europe, in fact any sane nation, would not tolerate such repeated attacks on its sovereingty and its citizens and yet they have no qualms about demanding the impossible from the Jews.

Enough is enough! The ghetto is dead and we will never return willingly to it again. It is time to act like a rational, proud and strong people living in our own land. The Judaism of the exile is dead. "There is no Torah like the Torah of Eretz Yisrael and there is no wisdom like the wisdom of Eretz Yisrael" (Bereishit Rabba 16:4). The Torah of the exile was necessary in its own time but today, we need not fear refusing the goyyim. Jewish self-defense and strength is not a contradiction, it not an "un-Jewish" concept but rather mandated by our Sages. We learn in Tanchuma, Shoftim 15: "When you go forth to battle against your enemies" (Deut. 20:1)... What is meant by "against your enemies"? G-d said, "Confront them as enemies. Just as they show you no mercy, so should you not show them mercy." I do not want the Judaism of the galut, of the ghetto, of the bent-backed Jew pleading for his life. I do not want weakness, surrender, compromise, retreat. I want, no, I demand the Judaism of Samson, who prayed: "Lord GOD, remember me... O God, that I may be this once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes." (Judges 16:28). I want the Judaism of king David who asked: "who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should have taunted the armies of the living God?" (Samuel I 17:26). I want the Judaism of Moses our Teacher who said: "Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute the LORD'S vengeance on Midian." (Numbers 31:3)

Israel, fight against your enemies and show them no mercy! "The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. And men shall say: 'Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth." (Psalm 58:11-12)

"Pour forth Your wrath upon the nations that do not recognize You and upon the kingdoms that do not invoke Your name. For they have devoured Jacob and destroyed his habitation. Pour forth Your fury upon them and let Your burning wrath overtake them. Pursue them with anger and destroy them from beneath the heavens of the L-rd."

No Jew is Ever Lost

"If any of thine are dispersed be in the uttermost parts of heaven, from thence will HaShem thy G-d gather thee, and from thence will He fetch thee." (Deut. 30:4)

In the last post, I wrote about how many Jews have been tragically cut off form their people due to assimilation, intermarriage or conversion. This article from YNet News reminds us that no Jew is ever lost:

Yosef Pero Philip is professor psychiatry at the University of Porto. Arieh Ben Avraham is a renowned film director. Yosef Eduardo Albas is a soccer player in Portugal’s Second Division. All three men have recently converted to Judaism, observe the mitzvoth, and are distinctly proud of their Jewish heritage.

These three men are also representative of a noticeable recent trend among descendants of Spanish and Portuguese Marranos, that is Sephardic Jews forced to adopt the identity of Christians, who are now rediscovering their Jewish faith and reclaiming their ancient heritage en masse.

Rabbi Eliyahu Birnbaum of the “Shavei Israel” Foundation, which oversees the conversion process among these Marrano descendants, said that over the years individual Marranos have converted to Judaism , but now, thanks to the foundation’s efforts, entire communities of Marrano offspring are converting to Judaism and reclaiming their ancient heritage.

This phenomenon is becoming increasingly common. In 2005, tens of families of Incan Jews from the city of Trujillo, Peru, returned to Israel. The Jewish community of Tarapoto, deep in the Amazonian jungle, founded by Jewish refugees from Morrocco in the 1880s, has gotten its first rabbi. An outreach center for descendants of anusim (the proper term for Marrano) was recently opened in Recife, Brazil. Tens of thousands of Ethiopian Jews and Bnei Menashe Indian Jews, descendants of the Ten Lost tribes, have returned to Israel.

"Lost" Jews around the world are taking the plunge and returning to the ways of their ancestors. Clearly, G-d is still with us. This nation is destined for great things. Do you want to sit on the sidelines and watch or be part of this amazing miracle?

See the Deed

The following billboard is being put up all over Jerusalem to greet President Bush when he comes to visit the Holy City some time this month:

All Bible-believers, Jews and Christians, Catholics and Evangelicals, Baptists and Mormons, stand up for G-d's Inheritance. Jews, don't be ashamed to point to our deed to the Land. Our father Avraham bought the Cave of Machpela in Hebron for 400 silver shekalim. Yaakov purchased the field of Shechem, where Yoseph's tomb is located, for 100 ksita, and today Shechem (Nablus) is judenrein and Yoseph's tomb was desecrated. King David bought the Temple Mount from the Jebusites and his son built the Holy Temple there, where today no Jew is allowed to pray. And the entire land was promised to us by G-d Himself. Jews and Gentiles, our rights to the land do not come from any declaration by a hundred non-Jews 60 or 100 years ago. Pick up the Bible and see the deed!

"Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates; 19 the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite." (Genesis 15:18-20)

"And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." (Genesis 17:7-8)

"He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations; [The covenant] which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac; And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant; Saying: 'Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance." (Psalms 105:7-10)

"You are crossing the Jordan to come to the land which G-d is giving you, you must settle the land and live there..." (Deuteronomy 11:31)

Whoever rejects Jewish sovereignty over Israel rejects G-d's sovereignty. He blasphemed the G-d of Israel. Woe to he who fights the Master of the Universe!

Occupation: The Big Lie

My brain's gone a little gaga from the sun and I doubt that I will be able to right down anything of worth. But, in light of recent slanderous charges against Israel by a certain young visitor, I would like to repost an article from Arutz-7. It blasts apart the "occupation" myth that critics of Israel are so fond of citing. They are entirely right when they say that the occupation must end- the Arab occupation of Jewish land must come to an end soon.

Occupation: The Big Lie
by Asher Zelig Fried

Arab and leftist propagandists have learned well.

Israel stands accused of conducting a brutal military occupation of Arab lands inhabited by an indigenous, peace-seeking Arab population. Repeatedly, in newscasts and the press, Israel is characterized as harshly subjugating another people. These accusations are dangerous, a pervasive lie, and an existential threat to Israel. They are a classic manifestation of a much utilized propaganda tactic known as "The Big Lie."

Accusations resulting from this falsehood exceed all bounds of truth and continue
These accusations are dangerous, a pervasive lie, and an existential threat to Israel. Incredibly, many are now accepted as "articles of faith" by increasing numbers of those who heretofore viewed Israel favorably. These accusations have become the common ground that transforms casual supporters of Israel into vocal Israel-bashers, and the glue that today binds every manner of Israel's enemies.

Israel's "occupation" of the disputed areas began subsequent to its 1967 victory in the Six Day War, when Jewish settlement of Judea and Samaria began in earnest. Initial Arab reactions were positive, as working relationships were maintained between Jewish communities and their Arab neighbors. Jews would regularly visit Arab towns and employ local townspeople. The Arab standard of living improved significantly as its per capita income increased exponentially. Local roads were modernized, water supplies increased, electricity and telephone communications were developed, and a new tourism industry flourished. With rare exception, there were no road-blocks, lock-downs, or curfews, as Arabs worked and shopped in Haifa and Tel Aviv, and Jews shopped in Ramallah and in local Arab villages.

With the benefits of Arab and Jew living side-by-side and in relative peace apparent through the 1970s and 1980s, there nevertheless were Arab rumblings about Jewish settlement in the land. It received, however, minimal attention; it was perceived to be the sentiment of relatively few Arab dissidents. The improving economic conditions of the local population and its benefits were deemed far more important than the negative potential of a renewal of friction.

These relationships, built over a period of 25 years, were dramatically and irretrievably altered with the signing of the Oslo Accords of 1993. The Accords created an entirely new narrative. The status of Jewish residents changed abruptly from neighbor to occupier, even in their own homes and communities. Arab extremists, emboldened by Oslo's promise of an independent Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, demanded removal of all Jewish communities in areas they now claimed as exclusively their own.

In 1994, Israel granted the Palestinian National Authority autonomous control of the major Arab cities in Judea and Samaria, and of the surrounding areas. The PNA's corrupt rule and suppression of all opposition resulted in a GDP in 2003 one-tenth of what it had been in 1992. The then-newly-returned Yasser Arafat and his murderous henchmen spread their reign of terror and hostility, while their propagandists introduced a new rallying call, "End the Occupation." Israel's political Left, in support of Oslo, immediately joined the fray.

Incredibly, no one questioned the incongruity of Jews branded occupiers of Judea, the province named for its Jewish residents. No one thought it odd that Jews were now accused of occupying Jerusalem, known historically as "the city of the Jew." Far more Jews shopped in Ramallah and in local Arab villages. More vociferous then even the Arab propagandists, the Israeli Left immediately embraced the Arab narrative and intensified their onslaught. They too adopted "End the Occupation" as their rallying call, with which they then pervaded Israeli TV, radio, newspapers, film, literature and the universities. Today, the very words of seditious Israeli university professors, who denigrate Israel in the most perverse manner, are quoted by Israel's enemies across the globe.

Perhaps the greatest irony is that The Big Lie as a tool of propaganda was first introduced by Adolf Hitler in his 1925 autobiography Mein Kampf. He states that for the Big Lie to be effective, it "must be so colossal that no one would believe that someone could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." He further posits that "in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily." This tactic was utilized by Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda, who understood that for the lie to be effective, it must not only be colossal, but also must contain at least a kernel of truth, and be repeated with great frequency. The Arab propagandists, and now enemies of Israel worldwide, have learned well from their murderous Nazi predecessors.

Accusations of occupation by Israel's leftist press, and by Israel's detractors following their lead, are repeated regularly and without respite. The necessary kernel of truth is evident: Israel does, in fact, occupy Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem; much the same way that it occupies Tel Aviv and Haifa, and in much the same the way the United States occupies Miami and Los Angeles with their minority Latino populations, and the same way Canada occupies Quebec, with its minority French population.

Jews were sovereign in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, and the lands west of the Jordan River for a thousand years, while Arabs were never sovereign in these lands. It was not until the late 19th and early 20th century that the overwhelming majority of Arabs living west of the Jordan River migrated to the area. The land then was ruled by the Ottoman Empire. Subsequently, until the founding of the Jewish State, it was under British control.

With Israel's victory in the Six Day War and subsequent control of these areas, Jordan disavowed any further claim to it. The merit of Israel's claim thus far exceeds any other. By what standard are Jews "occupiers" for striving to settle these areas? By what justification should this land, Israel's ancient heartland, be exclusively Arab and forbidden to Jews?

Branding Israel an "occupier" is designed to engender overwhelming negative reaction to Israel and ultimately to delegitimize her. It places Israel, via comparison, alongside murderous military occupations. Israel's "occupation" is thus similar to Nazi Germany's occupation of eastern Europe, or Japan's occupation of China, or the Soviet Union's occupation of eastern Europe, all of which resulted in millions murdered and enslaved. Perpetrated by cruel and despotic dictators, these occupations were militarily invasions of sovereign countries for the purpose of murder, mayhem and subjugating the citizenry.

Israel's "occupation," by contrast, is led by Jewish families building new communities, schools, and houses of worship. These families have built the area's infrastructure anew and desire only to live in peace with all residents of the area. Branding Israel an "occupier" is designed to engender overwhelming negative reaction.Comparing such families settling their ancestral homeland to murderous Nazi, Japanese and Soviet armies is more than a lie; it's obscene.

In the final analysis, the lie of Israel as Occupier was created by the Oslo Accords. The Accords transformed Jewish families settling Israel's heartland into pariahs in the eyes of much of the world, and confusion as to where in Israel Jews would be permitted to live. Israel's friends began to wonder why Israel would surrender its heritage to an enemy sworn to destroy it. Most horrifically, Oslo brought about a reign of terror resulting in death and disfigurement to thousands of innocent Jewish men, women and children.

The most difficult issue facing Israel today is that of a hostile minority population, resentful of and refusing to live in peace with the ruling Jewish majority. Believing the surrender of Israel's heartland will bring peace is delusional. The issue will be resolved only when Israel's minority population recognizes the myriad advantages of living together peacefully with the Jewish majority. Israel needs new leadership with a new vision, one that is ready to proclaim Jewish sovereignty over all of Jerusalem and over Israel's historic heartland.

To sum up, Israel came into possession of these lands after being attacked by Jordan, Egypt and Syria in 1967. After a miraculous six days, Israel liberated these lands which form part of the ancient Jewish homeland. Jewish settlers soon moved in and Arab living conditions soon improved. The myth of the "occupation" was created to slander Israel. Arabs hated Jewish settlements long before '67 or even the founding of the state. Crazed Arab hordes killed Jews in bloody pogroms in 1921 and 1929. When Israel was founded, it was attacked by over one million Arab soldiers and endured decades of terror attacks until the Six Day War. Neither will giving land back bring peace. Suicide bombings only began after Israel showed itself ready to compromise in the Oslo Accords, kassams only began to fall on Sderot after Israel's 2005 Disengagement from Gaza ("occupation" free and judenrein for 2 years, little has improved) and the Second Lebanon War happened after Israel withdrawed from Southern Lebanon.

Where are You? Arise!

The Tenth of Tevet isn't simple a day to commemorate a historical occurence. The siege of Jerusalem wasn't something that happened thousands of years ago. The siege continues today, as long as Jews aren't in full sovereingty over our entire land, and as long as this like this continue:

From Arutz-7:

Jewish worshippers Tuesday were stunned to find Arabs had desecrated the graves of the Biblical Joshua, Caleb and Nun (Joshua’s father).

Joshua served as the Jewish Nation's Prime Minister from the year 2488 until 2516 on the Hebrew calendar (1272 BCE - 1300 BCE).

Members of the One Shechem organization that organizes visits to the graves arrived in the village of Timnat (Kifl) Haress, near Ariel in Samaria, to prepare for a special prayer gathering, discovered that Arab vandals had desecrated the village’s Jewish tombs. The tombs of Yehoshua (Joshua) ben Nun, Nun, and Calev (Caleb) ben Yefuneh were covered with garbage and feces – both human and animal, and anti-Semitic and Nazi slogans and symbols had been painted in the area.

Nevertheless, worshippers gathered at the tombs Tuesday night for special prayers on the tenth of Tevet, the day Kaddish and other prayers are recited for those whose date of death is unknown, such as Calev ben Yefuneh. Organizers had cleaned up the damage and attendees reported a positive experience.

Hamas flags were flying over the tomb of Yehoshua, the conquerer and liberator of Israel! This desecration cannot continue. The day will come when Yehoshua will again liberate the Land.

Tehillim 44:

"For the Leader; [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah. Maschil. O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us; a work Thou didst in their days, in the days of old. Thou with Thy hand didst drive out the nations, and didst plant them in; Thou didst break the peoples, and didst spread them abroad. For not by their own sword did they get the land in possession, neither did their own arm save them; but Thy right hand, and Thine arm, and the light of Thy countenance, because Thou wast favourable unto them. Thou art my King, O God; command the salvation of Jacob. Through Thee do we push down our adversaries; through Thy name do we tread them under that rise up against us. For I trust not in my bow, neither can my sword save me. But Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us. In God have we gloried all the day, and we will give thanks unto Thy name for ever. Selah! Yet Thou hast cast off, and brought us to confusion; and goest not forth with our hosts. Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; and they that hate us spoil at their will. Thou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations. Thou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high. Thou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples. All the day is my confusion before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, For the voice of him that taunteth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the revengeful. All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path; Though Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death. If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god; Would not God search this out? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart. Nay, but for Thy sake are we killed all the day; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord? Arouse Thyself, cast not off for ever. Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for Thy mercy's sake."
